The Power of You
You are powerful.
You are enough.
You have the power to be so much more.
Why do we doubt ourselves?
For many people, they have had others in their lives who have had a negative effect on their mindset.
Whether it was parents, aunts, uncles, siblings, good friends, bullies at school or in the workplace, bosses or mentors, there are many people who have had an influence on our lives and with that, our sense of self-worth.
When this influence is not one of positivity and encouragement, it leads us to doubting our own abilities.
Have you been told that you can’t do this, or that?
Did someone say to you that you would never be successful?
Was it instilled in you, that you weren’t pretty enough, not good enough, not able to achieve, too stupid, too quiet, too lazy, too this or too that?
Think about the stories that you tell yourself.
Do these stories stem from the words of someone else?
When we are young and growing up, we don’t have a choice in terms of who we live with.
Our beliefs are formulated by those closest to us in our family, our friends and our community (and that may include our religion or spiritual beliefs).
As we grow up, we develop our sense of who we are.
This is when we, as teenagers, start to formulate our own views and beliefs, often rebelling against the culture that we have grown up with.
Take yourself back to your teenage years and think about something that you were incredibly passionate about. What was that?
Was there a sport that you loved? Did you have a particular hobby or passion that really made your heart sing?
Who were your biggest influencers and why?
It is this fire and passion that I would like you to invoke right now. Remember it deep within your core.
I remember loving, and being good at, drawing. I also used to love to sing, even though people would tell me that I wasn’t very good at it.
But, did that stop me from entering the school play? Hell no!
I applied for every audition that I could because it was something I loved and was passionate about.
Even today, I love to sing, usually in the car and not necessarily getting all the words right, but who cares?
It is with that in mind, that I encourage you to be all that you can be.
Let go of what the naysayers say.
Tell your own story. Believe in yourself. Listen to your inner self and find inspiration there.
Make your life’s journey one of what you want to make of it, rather than of what others tell you through their own limited beliefs and view of the world.
Remember, no matter what the circumstances are, it comes down to what YOU believe.
You are capable.
You have all the tools at your disposal.
If there is something that you want to pursue, do that today.
Find out what it is that you need to make it a reality.
A doctor is not a doctor overnight. There are years of study and training that gets them to their goal.
And, just like a doctor, think about the steps that you need to take to get you from where you are to where you want to be.
As the saying goes, “Rome wasn’t built in a day. “
It is the same with success.
Success is not achieved in one day.
When working with my clients as a business coach, I help them to believe in themselves and to find what has meaning to them. When coaching together, I help my clients move away from a job that they no longer love to moving into work that doesn’t feel like work because it gives them fulfilment.
As a motivational speaker, I inspire my audience to become more empowered so that they can take action that creates powerful transformation in their lives.
You too can do it.
Believe it and make it happen.
You are powerful.
You are successful.
You can be so much more.
