Benefits of a morning routine
Why should you have a morning routine?
Because it helps set the foundation for the day and can positively affect your mindset to get more things accomplished.
The benefits of a morning routine can include: greater productivity, improved mood, less stress and more resilience.
The best morning routine is one that works for you.
You can talk to many people about what they do, but the most important thing that you need to do is focus on something that works for you.
Our bodies love a routine.
Have you ever noticed yourself getting crabby because your routine has been disrupted?
Do you find yourself getting stressed because you can’t get done what you need to get done?
That’s because your routine is being disrupted.
When we have a routine, our bodies feel good.
So what are some suggestions for adopting a morning routine?
Ask yourself, what makes you feel good to start your day?
Do you have to have your cup of morning coffee before you can even think of facing the tasks of the day?
Is it that you like to have some quiet time before anyone else is up to do some exercise or meditation?
Are you the person who likes to have a plan laid out?
Whichever it is for you, make sure that it resonates with you.
Don’t try to be like somebody else.
If your best friend likes to go for a 5 mile run, don’t try to do the same just because someone says that it is good for you.
The worst thing that you can do is to set expectations of yourself that are unrealistic.
Also, be mindful of what must be done vs what you would like to get done and schedule your day accordingly.
When we have days in the week when we know that we have appointments, meetings or events that are going to disrupt our routine, how can you work around that?
What do you need to do to still accomplish your routine. Can you get up 15 minutes earlier? Are you able to shift your exercise or meditation to a different time of the day?
You may not be a morning person, rather, you might be the person that comes alive at night.
If that is the case, set yourself a routine that works for your body clock.
The important thing is that you are consistent and this leads to greater productivity and performance.
This in turn gives you a sense of achievement when you accomplish your goals.
Make today the day that you start your morning routine and get yourself on track for achieving more!
